Takt time is the pace at which you must complete a stove to meet demand — your available production time divided by your target output. If you have an 8-hour day and a target of 160 stoves, your takt time is 3 minutes per stove. Every workstation on the line must complete its task within that takt time, or it becomes the bottleneck.
Break assembly into steps — body assembly, burner installation, gas connection, ignition wiring, testing, packaging — and assign each to a station. Balance the workload so no single station runs far slower than the rest. The slowest station sets your real output, so watch it closely and re-balance as your mix changes.
Each station needs the right number of trained workers. Start lean, then add workers to the bottleneck stations first — that is where extra labor directly raises throughput. Document every step so new workers train fast and quality stays consistent as you scale.
Gas leak testing and flame testing must be part of the line, not an afterthought. Every stove passes through the testers at takt speed. A test station that cannot keep up silently becomes your real bottleneck — or worse, gets skipped, which is a safety risk you cannot afford.
