If a stove in the field is found to have a defect, traceability lets you identify which batch it came from, which kit, which worker, and which test results — so you can contain the problem instead of guessing. It is also increasingly expected by regulators and by larger retail buyers who want proof of quality before they stock your brand.
Traceability begins at receiving. Record each CKD kit or component lot against its shipment, and log any defects found at incoming inspection. This ties every assembled stove back to the raw materials that went into it.
Assign each stove a serial number or batch code at the start of assembly. As it moves down the line, record the worker or station, any rework, and — critically — the results of gas leak testing and flame testing. A stove should not leave your facility without a recorded passing result.
A QMS does not need to be complex to be effective. Start with paper forms or a basic spreadsheet, and keep them consistent across every station and shift. The discipline of recording is more important than the tool you use. As you scale, you can move to digital records.
